German midfielder Julius Düker has moved to Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC have completed their foreign signings with German midfielder Julius Düker joining the club ahead of the new season.



From the city of Brunswick, Düker spent his youth career at various academies in and around the state of Lower Saxony including at VfL Wolfsburg. He started his pro career with Eintracht Braunschweig II – the reserve team of Eintracht Braunschweig in the fourth tier of German football (Regionalliga Nord) in 2014-15. During his time at Braunschweig, he also turned for the senior team who then competed in the 2. Bundesliga (second tier)

After a couple of seasons at the club, Julius moved to German third division club FC Magdeburg in 2016. He won the German third tier championship with the club in 2017-18. Düker continued playing in the 3. Liga up until last season. Besides FC Magdeburg, he turned up for SV Meppen and in 2021-22 with TSV Havelse. He also had a brief spell in 2018-19 with 2. Bundesliga club SC Paderborn 07.

Overall, the 26-year-old 6’2″ defensive midfielder has made 210 appearances in his club football career which was completely based in Germany in the second, third and fourth tier besides cup competitions. He has scored 35 goals and assisted 23 from 210 matches.

Düker’s arrival marks the final foreign signing for CFC. He follows Bosnian-born Croatian forward Petar Slišković, Ghanaian forward and journeyman Kwame Karikari, Iranian defender Vafa Hakhamaneshi, Senegalese international and defender Fallou Diagne and Brazilian playmaker Rafael Crivellaro who has been retained.
