Chennaiyin FC have signed Bosnian-born Croatian forward Petar Slišković ahead of the upcoming season.



Born in the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slišković was part of the youth setup at German clubs FSV Frankfurt and FSV Mainz 05 during his formative years. He won the German U-19 Bundesliga with Mainz 05 in 2008-09. In 2010, Petar transitioned to FSV Mainz 05 II – the reserves’ side of the club and played in the German fourth tier. A year later, he was made part of the senior team which played in the Bundesliga. He was bit-part player for Mainz in the top-tier with six seasons in the Bundesliga yielding two goals from 15 appearances.

While at Mainz, he was loaned out to FC St. Pauli and Dynamo Dresden between 2011 and 2013 and he played a couple of seasons in 2. Bundesliga – the second tier. From 2014-15, barring a spell of club football in Switzerland, Petar featured regularly in the 3. Liga – the third tier of German football including for the Mainz 05 II side. Last season in the 3. Liga, he scored three goals and assisted one from 30 appearances for Türkgücü München and SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Overall in club football, the 31-year-old 6’4″ striker has scored 136 goals and assisted 16 from a total of 359 club appearances (included U-19 Bundesliga stats).
