Brazilian forward Diego Mauricio has returned to Odisha FC ahead of the upcoming season. The striker spent the 2020-21 ISL season with Odisha FC in which he scored 12 goals and assisted two from 20 matches. Diego turned up for Mumbai City FC midway into last season – when he was signed on loan in the January transfer window from Qatari club Al Shahaniya SC. With Mumbai City FC, he managed to score three goals from seven matches.

Mauricio was part of Flamengo’s academy during his formative years and transitioned to the senior team who were competing in the Brazilian top-tier Série A. He went onto play club football in Russia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Thailand and China.

Diego played alongside Ronaldinho at Flamengo early in his career and was part of the Brazilian U-20 setup in 2011 alongside players like Neymar, Casemiro, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

A proven goalscorer in the ISL, Diego has a return of 15 goals from 27 matches in the ISL. The other foreign recruits OFC have brought onboard so far are Australian Osama Malik and Spaniard Carlos Delgado.
