Kerala Blasters have signed 32-year-old Spanish midfielder Vicente Gómez on a three-year-deal ahead of ISL 7.

Born in the city of Las Palmas, Gómez spent his formative years at the academy of local club AD Huracán. He turned professional with the club in 2007 and after a couple of years moved to UD Las Palmas Atlético – the reserve team of UD Las Palmas.

Vicente transitioned to the senior team in 2010 – Las Palmas were competing in the Segunda División then. He helped them achieve promotion to the La Liga in the 2014-15 season and spent three seasons with the club in the top-tier until they were relegated at the end of the 2017-18 season.

After leaving UD Las Palmas, the tall defensive midfielder joined Deportivo de La Coruña who had just been relegated from La Liga. Gómez joins Kerala Blasters after the Branquiazuis suffered a double relegation in the space of two years – they will now be competing in the third tier Segunda División B.

Over the course of his extensive career in Spain, Gómez has featured in 302 matches in the La Liga, Segunda División and the cup competition – the Copa del Rey.

Vicente is the second foreign signing the Blasters have made ahead of the new season behind Argentinian attacker Facundo Pereyra.
