Kerala Blasters have brought onboard 32-year-old Argentinian attacking midfielder Facundo Pereyra ahead of the 2020-21 Indian Super League.

From the port city of Zárate in Argentina, Pereyra was part of the U-20 squad at Club Atlético Estudiantes – a Primera B Nacional (2nd Division) club based out of Caseros, Buenos Aires. He transitioned to the senior side in 2006.

After leaving Estudiantes a few years later, Facundo went onto play club football in Chile, Mexico, Greece, Azerbaijan, Cypriot and also returned to Argentina on a few occasions to play in the Primera División.

Some of the clubs he performed consistently for outside Argentina are Greek club PAOK FC (2014-17; 44 matches, 14 goals) and Cypriot-based Apollon Limassol FC (2018-20; 39 matches 21 goals) – from where he joins Kerala Blasters.

Over the course of his career, Facundo has played in 267 matches in which he has scored 75 goals and assisted 22.

The attacking midfielder mainly plays as a second striker and marks the first foreign signing Kerala Blasters have made for the upcoming season of the ISL.

It is a great privilege to sign with Kerala Blasters FC, one of the most widely supported clubs in India. Playing in India is a pleasant surprise to my footballing career.

I was inspired by the plans of the club and the Indian Super League for the development of football and also by the many interesting facts about the state of Kerala, specially the fans and their passionate love for football.

I shall contribute in all possible ways to the success of the Club, to ensure the fans enjoy a wonderful game on field.
