Wayne Vaz trades the beaches of Goa for the hills of the Northeast

Wayne Vaz signs for Northeast United FC

Northeast United FC have signed the Churchill Brothers defender Wayne Vaz for the upcoming Indian Super League season.

Hailing from Mumbai, the 24-year-old’s big break into the Indian league system was when he signed for Chennai City FC in the 2016-17 season. He was picked up by FC Pune City in the ISL draft the following season, but did not end up making an appearance for the Stallions.

Lack of playing time at Pune City led to a loan move to the I-League side, Churchill Brothers. Wayne notched up 26 appearances for the Red Machines over the last two seasons.

Alongside being a centre-back, Wayne can also fill in as a right fullback and hopefully his second stint in the ISL sees him on the pitch more often than not.
