Indian Arrows midfielder Lalengmawia signs for Northeast United FC

Lalengmawia

Northeast United FC announced the signing of 18-year-old Indian Arrows midfielder Lalengmawia for the upcoming Indian Super League season.

Hailing from Aizawl, Lalengmawia’s first break in football was when he was selected from his school to participate in the U-14 Subroto Cup. He was part of the the Indian U-17 National Team which played in the FIFA U-17 World Cup held in India in 2017. Following a couple of appearances as a sub at the u-17 world cup, the midfielder was drafted into the Indian Arrows side ahead of the 2017-18 season.

Lalengmawia can also play on the wings and made two appearances in his first season with the Arrows’ team. In the recently concluded I-League season which was his second full season, he made 11 appearances under the manager Floyd Pinto.

Pace and passing are Lalengmawia’s primary attributes and he could be a vital addition as Northeast United seek to build on their fourth place finish last season. The rebuild though might be tougher than expected with the departures of manager Eelco Schattorie and forward Bart Ogbeche.
