
Churchill Brothers have appointed Argentinian coach Edgardo Malvestiti as their head coach for the upcoming season of the I-League.
Malvestiti played club football as a forward with Newell’s Old Boys (Messi’s former club) and Central Cordoba in Rosario before taking up coaching as the youth coach of Newell’s Old Boys in 1996. He went on to coach clubs in Argentina, Bolivia, El Salvador and Peru.
The 53-year-old UEFA A-License holder won the Bolivian League and Aerosur Cup as Assistant Coach with Club Blooming. He also secured qualification to the Copa Sudamericana with Bolivian club Nacional Potosí.
Over the last few years, Edgardo returned to take over the role of assistant manager at Newell’s Old Boys and was Head Coach at Central Cordoba. His last coaching role before joining the Red Machines was with Peruvian club Academia Deportiva Cantolao.
