Former Chennaiyin FC midfielder and their talisman over the last few seasons – the Brazilian Rafael Crivellaro has joined Jamshedpur FC for the remainder of the ISL 2022-23 season.

Overall, the attacking midfielder has made 27 appearances for CFC (2019-20, 2020-21) in which he scored eight goals and assisted nine. He helped Chennaiyin FC reach the final of the 2019-20 ISL season where they finished Runners Up. The 33-year-old missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season and was not selected to be part of the Chennai squad for the 2022-23 season of the ISL.

Born in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, Rafael spent his formative years at Brazilian club Internacional and Italian club Empoli FC. The midfielder signed his first professional contract in January of 2009 with Brazilian third tier side Caxias, but soon moved on to another Brazilian side Guaratinguetá.

Over the next few years, Rafael played most of his football in Portugal with Vitória SC, FC Arouca among others. He has also featured for clubs in UAE, Iran and Poland.

Rafael had joined two-time ISL Champions Chennaiyin FC prior to the start of the 2019-20 season from CD Feirense – a Portuguese club which used to compete in the top-tier Primeira Liga (Liga NOS), but were relegated.

Jamshedpur FC have been struggling for points and goals this season and are currently placed 10th in the league. If Crivellaro is fighting fit, it could be a valuable addition to JFC especially in terms of creativity up front.

I’m very happy to join Jamshedpur FC. This is a new challenge and a new beginning for me and I hope I can help the team succeed.

The team has welcomed me with open arms and I’m very excited to work with the coach and everyone here.

I want to say thank you to the fans for the warm welcome and I’m very happy and excited to perform for them on the pitch.
