Jamshedpur FC have signed 25-year-old Australian centre-forward Harry Sawyer on a one-year contract ahead of the new season.

Born in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Sawyer spent his youth career with various clubs in and around the state. He made his professional debut for Newcastle Jets in the 2016-17 A-League and made five appearances in the league. Later in 2017, he rejoined NPL Queensland side Western Pride. The National Premier Leagues (state leagues) constitute the second tier of club football in Australia.

In 2017, Harry joined Filipino club Davao Aguilas FC and scored 13 goals from 24 appearances for the club. He was loaned out to Hong Kong-based Tai Po FC the following year. The 6’5″ forward won the Hong Kong Premier League 2018-19 and also represented the club in the AFC Cup.

December 2019 saw the return of Sawyer to Australia with South Melbourne FC in the NPL. He was loaned out to another NPL side Gold Coast Knights briefly in 2020 before returning to South Melbourne in December that year. For Gold Coast Knights, he contributed with 15 goals (19 appearances) in the 2020 Queensland NPL.

Last season in the NPL Victoria for South Melbourne, he was highest goal scorer in the league with 17 goals coming in 23 matches.

Harry’s skill in converting goals, shots inside the box, quick feet, targeted headers, and physicality makes him the best choice as a striker.

Harry is a great addition to our squad and a potent threat to opponents’ defences. With his skill-set, guidance, and hard work, we hope to see a lot of goals.
