Greek manager Staikos Vergetis is the new head coach at RoundGlass Punjab FC

RoundGlass Punjab FC have appointed Greek manager Staikos Vergetis as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming I-League season. The 46-year-old UEFA Pro Licence holder was head coach at Greek Super League 2 club Ierapetra FC last season.

Staikos replaces temporary coach Ed Engelkes who in turn replaced Ashley Westwood in March 2022.



Vergetis started his professional managerial career as head coach of top tier Greek club Asteras Tripolis FC briefly in 2011 first and then full-time in 2013. In his first full season with the club in 2013-14, he helped the club negotiate the qualifying rounds and make it to the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time in their history. The following season under his management, the club finished third in the Greek Super League and qualified directly for the UEFA Europa League.

After leaving Asteras Tripolis in 2017, Staikos went onto manage clubs in Cyprus and Greece. His most recent assignment was with Greek Super League 2 club OF Ierapetra FC in the 2021-22 season.
