Mumbai City FC have completed the signing of fullback Sanjeev Stalin from Kerala Blasters on a four-year contract. The 21-year-old had signed a three-year contract with Kerala Blasters in March 2021 and has now joined the Islanders for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Stalin was part of the Chandigarh Football Academy and was originally selected to be part of the AIFF Elite Academy batch that was preparing to play in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 which was held in India. He represented India at the FIFA U-17 WC and went onto play at various age groups for the national team.
Following the FIFA World Cup, Sanjeev was picked to play for the AIFF developmental side Indian Arrows in the I-League. Over the course of two seasons, he made 28 appearances in the league.
In February of 2020, Stalin joined then Portuguese Primeira Liga side CD Aves on a two-year contract. He was part of the U-19 and U-23 side of CD Aves and was loaned out later that year to current Portuguese fourth division club Sertanense FC.
Sanjeev’s next move was to the ISL in March 2021 when he was signed by Kerala Blasters ahead of the 2021-22 ISL. He featured in eight matches in the league last season.
