
Chennaiyin FC have tied down former FC Goa, Chennai City FC midfielder Alexander Romario Jesuraj on a multi-year contract. The predominantly right midfielder spent the last two seasons of the ISL with FC Goa prior to which he played in the I-League with Chennai City FC and Mohun Bagan AC. He won the I-League with both of these clubs.
From Dindigul in Tamil Nadu, Jesuraj began his club career in the CFA Division with Arrows FC. His first big break was an opportunity to play for Chennai City FC in 2017. The following season, he won the league with the club and was soon picked up by FC Goa.
In his first season with the Gaurs, the now 25-year-old was loaned out to Mohun Bagan in the I-League and he won the I-League for a second consecutive year with the Mariners.
He returned to the club after the season and was part of the FC Goa team for the 2020-21 ISL. He also represented the club in the AFC Champions League (5 appearances) and was also part of the squad that won the Durand Cup. Overall in his two seasons in the ISL including the recently concluded 2021-22 ISL, he made a total of 30 appearances for the Gaurs in which he managed to score three goals and assist four.
