Chennaiyin FC have wrapped up the signing of 24-year-old centre-back Sajid Dhot from Odisha FC for the rest of the season.

From Punjab, Sajid started his youth career in 2007 at the famed St. Stephen’s Football Academy in Chandigarh under the guidance of Harjinder Singh. In 2009, he moved to train at the IMG Academy in Florida, United States. After his stint abroad, he joined the AIFF Elite Academy. Dhot has represented India at various age group levels during his developmental years.

The 5′ 11″ defender made his professional debut for DSK Shivajians in their match against Salgaocar FC during the 2015-16 I-League. After a couple of years at the club, he switched over to ISL side Delhi Dynamos in 2017. When the Delhi Dynamos franchise moved to Odisha as Odisha FC, he was retained by the new entity. In his four seasons in the ISL, Sajid has made 23 appearances so far.

With game time hard to come by under new manager Kiko Ramírez at Odisha FC, Dhot will be looking to make his first appearance in the 2021-22 ISL at Chennai.
