Jamshedpur FC have signed FC Goa forward Ishan Pandita on a two-year contract ahead of the 2021-22 ISL. The 23-year-old was a revelation last season for FC Goa and also featured in the Gaurs’ AFC Champions League 2021 campaign.
Born in Delhi, Ishan moved to Spain in 2014 to pursue football. He joined the youth setup of Segunda División club UD Almeria in 2016 and went on to feature for CF Pobla de Mafumet and the CD Leganés U-19 team. In 2019-20, Pandita turned up for Tercera División club Lorca FC. The centre-forward scored six goals in 25 games and was Lorca’s highest goalscorer.
The striker was signed by FC Goa prior to the start of the 2020-21 ISL season in October 2020. In the ISL last season, Ishan scored four goals in 11 matches. All his appearances in the league were off the bench and the forward developed a reputation as a ‘super sub’ with important goals late into the second half of the game. He also featured in all six matches of Goa’s ACL campaign.
Ishan’s performances earned him a national team call-up in March 2021. He made his debut in an international friendly between India and Oman held on March 25, 2021.
