Jamshedpur FC have signed 34-year-old Indian international defender Anas Edathodika ahead of the 2021-22 ISL season.
From Malappuram, Kerala, Anas was scouted by former Indian international Feroz Sherif and it was on his advice he attended the trials conducted by 2nd Division League side Mumbai FC. Anas got selected and joined Mumbai FC in 2007 and helped the club win promotion to the I-League. After a few years, he joined arch-rivals Pune FC in 2011 and four years later, he was drafted into the Indian Super League with Delhi Dynamos FC.
After a couple of seasons at Delhi Dynamos which included a loan spell to Mohun Bagan, Anas was the first player to be signed by the newly-minted Jamshedpur FC in the 2017-18 season. The next two seasons, the centre back turned up for Kerala Blasters and ATK winning the ISL Championship with the latter.
Last season, although there were offers from I-League clubs, Anas declined them in favour of continuing in the ISL. As a result, he sat the season out and now returns to Jamshedpur FC for a second stint with the Red Miners.
Vastly experienced, Edathodika has made over 200 club appearances across the I-League, ISL, AFC competitions and other domestic tournaments. He also has 21 caps for the Indian national football team having made his international debut in March, 2017.
