FC Goa have announced the signing of 33-year-old Spanish forward Airam Cabrera on a one-year deal ahead of the 2021-22 ISL season.

From the Canary Islands in Spain, Cabrera spent his formative years at local club CD Tenerife and played in the lower division Spanish leagues especially in the Tercera División – the fourth tier.

After leaving Tenerife in 2010, Airam played for a number of clubs in the Spanish second and third tier – La Liga 2 and Segunda División B. In La Liga 2, he turned up for Villarreal CF B and Córdoba CF among others whereas in the third tier, he played for Cádiz CF and Extremadura UD.

Besides Spain, Cabrera played professional football in Poland and Cyprus. He was particularly prolific in the Polish top-tier Ekstraklasa with 30 goals coming in 60 matches in three seasons of club football where he represented Korona Kielce, Cracovia and in the 2020-21 season – Wisla Plock.

Over the course of his career, Airam has featured in 344 matches in club football in which he has scored 123 goals and assisted 11. Last season, however, Cabrera didn’t feature much for Wisla Plock – his five appearances in the Ekstraklasa did not yield a goal.
