Uruguayan attacking midfielder Adrián Luna has joined Kerala Blasters from A-League side Melbourne City FC on a two-year deal.
Luna spent his formative years at Montevidean clubs Progreso and Defensor Sporting. He made his senior team debut with the latter in 2010 in the Uruguayan Primera División. In 2011, Adrián was signed by Spanish club RCD Espanyol and loaned out to Gimnàstic de Tarragona and CE Sabadell FC in LaLiga 2 – the second tier of Spanish football. He was then loaned out to Uruguayan club Nacional in 2012 and in 2013, he moved back permanently to Defensor Sporting.
Luna’s next move was to Mexico in 2015 with Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz who used to play in the top tier Liga MX. After spending a few years at the club, he switched to the Australian A-League with Melbourne City FC in 2019 – from where he joins Kerala Blasters.
Adrián Luna’s two seasons in the A-League have seen him score eight goals and assist 10 from 45 appearances. Overall in his playing career, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder who also plays on the wings has made 336 appearances in club football in which he has scored 47 goals and assisted 46.
The 5’7” right-footed player presses well and possesses good play-making abilities.
