Bengaluru FC have announced the signing of former Kerala Blasters, Hyderabad FC midfielder Rohit Kumar on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder spent his formative years at Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) following which he joined the academy of Pune-based DSK Shivajians. Hailing from Delhi, Rohit captained Delhi in the B.C. Roy Trophy held in 2013. He made his I-League debut with DSK during the 2016-17 season.

In 2017, Kumar moved to FC Pune City and made his ISL debut during that season against Delhi Dynamos. When the franchise moved to Hyderabad in 2019, he switched over as well. Last season, he was picked up by Kerala Blasters – from where he joins BFC. Over the course of four seasons in the ISL, Rohit has made 41 appearances.

Kumar has represented India at the U-19 level.

Analyst’s Take (Shlok)

Hasn’t had a lot of game-time in the past few seasons. Fairly conservative passer, but has a decent completion rate with long balls. Adds a bit of steel to the midfield, decent versatile option for depth.
