Hyderabad FC have added 20-year-old Malappuram-based winger Abdul Rabeeh AK to their developmental squad.

Rabeeh was part of the academy at MSP Higher Secondary School, Malappuram, in 2013 and went on to represent them in the AIFF Youth Leagues at the U-16 and U-18 levels. He switched over to Kerala Blasters in 2019 and played in the 2nd Division League.

Last season, Abdul played in the Kerala Premier League 2020-21 with Luca Soccer Club and his performances caught the eye of the HFC scouts. Reserve team coach Shameel Chembakath who also hails from Malappuram was instrumental in bringing the lad over to the HFC reserves.

According to Shameel, the winger can also fill in as a fullback if needed.

I have seen a lot of youngsters with potential come and go.

But Rabeeh is one player that has always stood out. He has the ability to control the tempo of the game even against tougher opponents.

Also, he has potential in terms of speed, acceleration and skill, and puts in a lot of hard work every day
