Former Hyderabad FC forward Liston Colaco has joined ATK Mohun Bagan on a two-year deal in what is reported to be a record transfer fee for an Indian player. The transfer fee is around one crore rupees – the previous record for an Indian player was 90 lakh rupees for Michael Soosairaj who joined ATKMB from Jamshedpur FC in 2019.
The 22-year-old who hails from Davorlim in South Goa came into prominence when he scored 13 goals in the 2016-17 Goa Pro League with Salgaocar FC. He was the tournament’s top goalscorer that season and helped the club win the title. Soon after, FC Goa came calling and he signed a three-year deal with the ISL club. He initially represented the Gaurs in the Durand Cup and the 2nd Division League before making the cut to the senior team playing in the ISL. However, he found game time hard to come by with only eight appearances in nearly three seasons.
Liston made the switch to Hyderabad FC in January of 2020 on a two and a half year deal. Last year turned out to be the breakout year for him in the ISL with 19 appearances yielding two goals and three assists.
Colaco also represented the state of Goa in the 2016-17 Santosh Trophy where his brace in the semis helped them reach the final where they lost to Bengal. He was recently capped for the National Team for the first time when he started the match against UAE in an international friendly held on March 29, 2021.
