Northeast United FC have signed Jamaican forward Deshorn Brown from Bengaluru FC to replace the injured Ghanaian international Kwesi Appiah.
The Jamaican international started his professional career with Des Moines Menace in the United Soccer League. Deshorn went on to play for clubs in the Major League Soccer (MLS), Eliteserien (Norwegian league), China League One (second tier) and La Liga 2 with Lorca FC. Before landing on Indian shores, Brown had scored 70 goals and assisted 16 in 199 games for clubs across three continents.
Brown joined Bengaluru FC in January 2020 in place of Manuel Onwu who left on loan to Odisha FC. Much like Onwu struggled in his brief spell at BFC, Brown also found goals hard to come by. In 17 appearances for BFC in the league over a period of one and a half years, he has scored three goals and assisted one. And this season, Brown hasn’t managed to find the back of the net in 10 matches.
The transfer of Deshorn by BFC will facilitate the incoming transfer of Xisco Hernández who returns to the club as they bid to reach the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Northeast United are under interim manager Khalid Jamil for the rest of the season after Head Coach Gerard Nus was let go by the club recently.
