FC Goa have wrapped up a three-year deal for ATK Mohun Bagan custodian Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem. The Gaurs moved in quickly to seal the deal with reports indicating that the current No. 1 Mohammad Nawaz has refused to commit to a long-term contract.

The 20-year-old Dheeraj Singh came into prominence after representing India in the FIFA U-17 World Cup held in India in 2017. The Manipuri goalkeeper is an AIFF Elite Academy graduate and after a brief spell at Indian Arrows signed his first big contract with ISL side Kerala Blasters in the 2018-19 season. He featured in 13 matches for the club in the league and the following season left for ATK.

However, Dheeraj has found it difficult to break through the ranks at ATKMB with a solitary appearance to his credit in over one and a half seasons and has mainly served as an understudy to Arindam Bhattacharja. Over the past few games in the current season, he hasn’t even made it to the bench for the club.

If Nawaz does leave FCG, it could be a great opportunity for Dheeraj Singh to revive his fledgling career.
