
Dutch attacking midfielder Roland Alberg has joined Hyderabad FC till the end of the season from Dutch second-tier club Roda JC.
The now 30-year-old was part of the youth setup at HVV Hollandia and AZ Alkmaar before turning pro with then Eredivisie club SBV Excelsior in 2011. After a season each in the first and second tier with Excelsior, Alberg returned to the Eredivisie with ADO Den Haag and spent three seasons at the club.
In 2016, Roland moved to the MLS with Philadelphia Union and in two seasons, he made 52 appearances in the league in which he scored 22 goals and assisted one.
After leaving the MLS, Alberg showed up briefly for Belgian side CSKA Sofia and Greek club Panionios FC. In 2019-20, he returned to the Netherlands with Roda JC from where joins Hyderabad FC after a season and a half with the club.
Over the course of his career in the Dutch first and second tier, Alberg has scored 44 goals and assisted 20 in 162 appearances. The attacking midfielder of Surinamese origin can also play as a left winger and has represented the Dutch National Football Team at U-18 and U-20 levels.
I have played in many teams, in different countries around the world. But Hyderabad FC will be the first club in Asia for me and I cannot wait to get started.
Our pre-season in Netherlands started in July and the season in August. I only missed a couple of games in the season. and played my last game on the 20th of December.
So, I am fit and ready to go.
