Northeast United FC have brought onboard former QPR and RSC Anderlecht striker Idrissa Sylla for the 2020-21 ISL season.
From Guinea, Sylla spent his formative years at French club Le Mans FC and signed a pro contract with the club in 2010. After a year out on loan, he played for Le Mans FC for a couple of seasons in the second tier French Ligue 2.
Idrissa left Le Mans in 2013 and moved to Belgium to play in the Belgian Pro League first with Zulte Waregem and then RSC Anderlecht. He won the league with Anderlecht in the 2016-17 season although he only had a brief role to play in it due to his move to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The 6’1″ centre-forward played in the second tier EFL Championship for the next three seasons scoring 17 goals in 61 matches. Previously in the Belgian Pro League, Sylla scored 22 goals from 93 appearances. In the French Ligue 2 early on in his career, he has a return of 14 goals from 52 games. Idrissa has also represented the Guinean National Team and has been capped 28 times with his most recent appearance coming against Benin last year.
The last two seasons saw the Guinean make a return to Zulte Waregem and last season he was out on loan to another Belgian Pro League club KV Oostende – he managed to score two goals from 17 appearances. The striker joins Northeast United FC on a free transfer.
