Kerala Blasters have brought on-board former AC Sparta Praha defender Costa Nhamoinesu for the 2020-21 edition of the Indian Super League.
Born in the capital city Harare, Costa started his professional career with Zimbabwean club Amazulu FC in 2005 and after a season moved to another Zimbabwean club Masvingo United FC.
From Masvingo, he was loaned out to Polish club Zagłębie Lubin in 2008. The club was competing in the Polish second tier. Costa helped them win promotion to the Ekstraklasa – the top division in Poland and made the move to the club permanent in 2010.
After four seasons in the Polish top flight, Nhamoinesu joined Czech giants AC Sparta Praha who play in the top tier Czech First League (Fortuna Liga). He won the league and the Czech Cup in his first year with the club in the 2013-14 season. Seven seasons later (Costa also represented the club in the UEFA Europa League and the qualifiers for the UCL), Costa left Sparta Praha in July 2020 as the club did not renew his contract.
The 34-year old left footed centre-back has also represented the Zimbabwean National team and has won 11 caps. He stands a shade over six feet and can also play as a left back.
