Northeast United FC have signed 27-year-old Mauritanian international midfielder Khassa Camara ahead of the 2020-21 Indian Super League.

Born in France, Camara started his professional career with the reserve side of French Ligue 2 club Troyes AC (ESTAC) in 2010. He transitioned to the senior team in 2012 and made nine appearances for the club in Ligue 2.

After a brief period out on loan to French club US Boulogne who play in the third tier Championnat National, Khassa moved to Greek club Ergotelis FC for a short duration before joining another Greek club Xanthi FC in early 2016.

Xanthi were relegated to the Super League Greece 2 in the 2019-20 season. Prior to joining the Highlanders, Camara featured in 76 matches for Xanthi FC in five seasons with the club in the top flight.

The defensive midfielder made his debut for the Mauritanian National Team in 2013 and has been capped 35 times. Besides retaining Federico Gallego and appointing Gerard Nus as their new Head Coach, Khassa Camara is the first foreign signing NEUFC have made this season.
