Hyderabad FC have announced the signing of 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder João Victor on a one-year-contract ahead of ISL 7.

Born in the historic city of Olinda in Brazil, Victor was part of the academy at Clube Náutico and went on to be part of the senior team in 2005. After a couple of seasons with the club, he turned up for a few other Brazilian clubs before making his way to Uzbek club FC Bunyodkor in 2009 under head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

After a year in Uzbekistan, RCD Mallorca came calling for the defensive midfielder in August 2010. João spent a number of years at Mallorca – three seasons of which were in the La Liga.

In 2015, Victor left Mallorca and over the next few years played club football in Cypriot, Qatar and more recently in Greece. He joins Hyderabad FC from Greek Super League club OFI Crete FC.

I am very happy to have signed for Hyderabad FC. It’s an exciting project and a good challenge for me given the composition of the team.

We have a nice mix of experienced and young Indian players in the squad, and I hope that my experience helps the team on the field.

I am eager to join up with my teammates soon and get back into action

João Victor
