Kerala Blasters have signed 23-year-old defensive midfielder Rohit Kumar from Hyderabad FC ahead of the upcoming ISL season.
Rohit spent his formative years at the Bhaichung Bhutia Football School following which he joined the academy of Pune-based DSK Shivajians. Kumar transitioned to the senior team in 2016 and made his I-League debut against East Bengal in January of 2017.
In July 2017, as part of the ISL draft, Rohit moved to the now defunct FC Pune City and was part of the team over the next two seasons. Last season with the FC Pune City franchise folding and moving to Hyderabad FC, Rohit Kumar was one of the players who signed a fresh contract with HFC. He featured in nine matches in the 2019-20 ISL managing a goal and an assist.
Three seasons in the ISL with Pune City and Hyderabad FC saw Rohit make 30 appearances with three goals and an assist to his credit.
Joining Kerala Blasters was an easy decision for me since I’ve always wanted to play for the club.
I hope to improve myself as a player every day, with the help of my coaches, teammates, management and specially the fans, to contribute to the vision of the club.
With the support of my new squad, I wish to lift trophies for Kerala Blasters in the near future, because this club truly deserves it.
Rohit Kumar
