Bengaluru FC have signed Lalthuammawia Ralte on a two-year deal from FC Goa in what is the custodian’s third stint with the Blues.
Ralte who also goes by Mawia joined FC Goa from Bengaluru FC in 2018. Over the course of two seasons, he did not end up making an appearance in the ISL for the Gaurs. He was instead loaned out to Kerala Blasters for a brief period before being loaned out again to East Bengal. He did feature for the Red & Gold Brigade on nine occasions in the 2019-20 I-League season.
Mawia started his career with Shillong Lajong FC in 2011 and made his debut against Churchill Brothers in the Federation Cup. After three seasons at the club, then defending I-League champions Bengaluru FC came calling in 2014 in what would be his first stint with the club.
In his first season with the Blues, Ralte helped Bengaluru FC to the I-League trophy and over the next few years frequently stood in goal in the AFC Cup competition including the final in 2016. Subsequently, he was signed back by the Blues as part of 2017-18 ISL draft when BFC shifted to the Indian Super League.
I only have fond memories of my time here in Bengaluru and returning to the club for a third stint is something that I am very happy about.
Apart from the fact that I will be in a team that is hungry to win, I have a bond with the city and the fans and that is something that I look forward to returning to.
Lalthuammawia Ralte
