Hyderabad FC under new manager Albert Roca have moved in to sign the forward Liston Colaco on a two and a half year deal from FC Goa.
The 21-year-old striker has found game time hard to come by in the ISL with Coro and Manvir Singh ahead of him on the selection front for the lone forward role. Over the course of three seasons, Liston has made only eight appearances (52 minutes) in the Indian Super League with no goals to his credit.
Liston who hails from Davorlim in South Goa came into prominence when he scored 13 goals in the 2016-17 Goa Pro League with Salgaocar FC. He was the tournament’s top goalscorer that season and helped the club win the title. Soon after, FC Goa came calling and he signed a three-year deal with the ISL club.
Colaco also represented the state of Goa in the 2016-17 Santosh Trophy where his brace in the semis helped them reach the final where they lost to Bengal. More recently, he featured for FC Goa in the 2019 Durand Cup where he scored two goals in three appearances. He also heavily featured for the FC Goa Reserves side in the 2018-19 2nd Division League managing six goals in nine matches.
With Hyderabad FC struggling at the bottom of the table, Liston has an opportunity to cement his place in the team. The centre-forward is likely to play ahead of Marcelinho on the pitch or play on the wings. He could make his debut with his new club tonight – Hyderabad FC is hosting Odisha FC and the kick-off is at 7.30PM.
