Jamshedpur FC have announced the signing of 28-year-old Spanish forward David Grande for the remainder of the season. Grande is expected to slot in place of Sergio Castel who has been injured after making a sensational debut in the 2019-20 ISL season with five goals coming in just six appearances.

The centre-forward played in the Spanish third tier – the Segunda División B all of his career. Starting his professional career with Albacete, David went onto represent Getafe CF B and UD Alzira among others. Grande joins Jamshedpur FC from Unionistas de Salamanca CF where he scored nine goals in 18 appearances in the current season.

Over the years, David has scored 41 goals in 139 appearances in the Segunda División B.

It’s a massive opportunity for me to play at such an important club in India.

I have been given an objective by the Head Coach to help the team get into the top four and qualify for the play-offs.

This is our priority and I hope to help the team get there.”

We evaluated our squad after the first half of our season and we have been struggling with injuries to some foreign players.

Signing a player like David Grande helps us to add depth to the squad as well as more goals.

He’s a mature and proven player with a good left foot, and we think he will combine with our attack line quite well.

Antonio Iriondo, Head Coach, Jamshedpur FC

David Grande is expected to be available for selection for Jamshedpur FC’s next game against Bengaluru FC on the ninth of January.

Jamshedpur FC have also brought in Gaurav Mukhi back into the scheme of things and have promoted Tata Football Academy talent Sandip Mandi to their senior team.
