Northeast United FC have brought in 33-year-old former Sunderland forward and Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan to replace Bart Ogbeche who left for Kerala Blasters a few weeks ago.
Over his 16 year career, Gyan has played top-flight football in Italy (Udinese), France (Stade Rennais FC), England (Sunderland AFC), UAE (Al Ain), China (Shanghai SIPG FC) and more recently in Turkey with Kayserispor.
Asamoah made his debut for the Ghanaian National Team at the age of 17 in 2003 and has scored 51 goals in 107 appearances for the Black Stars.
Awarded the BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2010, Gyan has scored 136 goals and assisted another 26 in a career spanning three continents.
For the upcoming ISL 2019-20 season, Gyan should be able to provide a definite fillip to the Highlanders and at least on paper, NEUFC have replaced Ogbeche quite suitably.
