Northeast United FC have signed 21-year-old Uruguayan forward Martín Cháves for the upcoming Indian Super League season.
Born in the city of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, Martín was part of the Atlético Peñarol academy and represented the “B” side. At the age of 18, he was sent out on loan to Brazilian side Grêmio and he featured in youth-level tournaments for the club.
In January of 2019, the winger/second striker moved to Club Atlético Juventud – a club which competes in the Primera División, the top-tier league in Uruguay.
The 21-year-old has also been capped for Uruguay at youth levels and joins the Highlanders as they seek to rebuild their squad under new manager Robert Jarni.
