Jamshedpur FC have wrapped up a deal for 24-year-old Spanish forward Sergio Castel from Atlético Madrid B for the upcoming season.

Sergio was part of the CA Osasuna U19 team in 2013 and was briefly with the CA Osasuna B team before finding his way to CD Tudelano – a club which competes in the third tier of the Spanish league – the Segunda División B.  A season later he was at another third division club – CD Lealtad.

In 2015, he found himself at Australian club FC Bendigo from where he went on to join Vietnamese club Than Quang Ninh. 2017 saw him return to Spain with UD San Sebastián de los Reyes in the Segunda División B.

Last season was a breakout year for the aggressive young Spanish forward with 13 goals and nine yellow cards coming in 34 appearances in the league. After the season ended, Castel joined the Atlético Madrid B academy – from where he joins the ISL side Jamshedpur FC.

It is worth mentioning that Jamshedpur FC signed a strategic agreement with Atlético Madrid and Sergio’s transfer was facilitated by the Atlético academy.

In Sergio Castel, we have signed a forward who is quick, strong and a constant threat for the opposition.

He is young and a positive influence off the field and compliments our other foreign and Indian players.

Antonio Iriondo, Head Coach, Jamshedpur FC
