
Jamshedpur FC have announced the signing of 22-year-old attacking midfielder Isaac Vanmalsawma from Chennaiyin FC for the upcoming ISL season. Isaac who hails from Lunglei, Mizoram, has signed a two year deal with the Red Miners.
Part of the AIFF Elite Academy during the years 2012 and 2014, Isaac has represented India at the Under 16, Under 19 levels and has been capped once for the senior men’s team. After his stint at the academy, Vanmalsawma was part of Shillong Lajong’s youth team before making his debut with the senior team in the 2015-16 I-League season.
After a couple of seasons at Shillong, Isaac was drafted into the ISL side, FC Pune City, for the 2017-18 season. He would go on to make 12 appearances for the Stallions.
The following season (2018-19), Isaac completed a move to Chennaiyin FC and contributed with a goal and an assist from 13 appearances in the ISL.
The versatile Isaac can be also be deployed on the wings and strengthens Jamshedpur FC’s already strong Indian contingent.

Chennaiyin FC have also announced the departures of midfielder Chris Herd and goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard. Herd who joined a few months into the season played a part in Chennaiyin’s run in the AFC Cup, Super Cup and the ISL 2018-19 campaign. Nikhil Bernard who signed for Chennaiyin from Gokulam Kerala FC departs without having made an appearance for the Chennai side.
