Eugeneson Lyngdoh returns to Bengaluru FC on a one-year-deal

Bengaluru FC have announced the return of ATK midfielder Eugeneson Lyngdoh on a one year deal. The 32-year-old won many plaudits during his stint (2014-17) with the current ISL champions.

In the 2014-15 campaign, Eugenson scored nine goals and assisted 10 from 33 appearances. He was voted Bengaluru FC Fan’s Player of the Year, Player’s Player of the Year and was named the I-League Midfielder of the Season. The following year he helped the club win the I-League.

The 2015 AIFF Player of the Year also has two Federation Cup medals to his name.

Born in Shillong, Eugeneson spent a number of years at Rangdajied United FC before moving to Shillong Lajong who were competing in the I-League. He returned to his former club Rangdajied United FC who were new entrants to the I-League in the 2013-14 season.

After Rangdajied United FC were delicensed, Eugeneson signed for Bengaluru FC in July of 2015. After a hugely successful spell at the club which included a loan spell to FC Pune City, the midfielder moved to ATK for the 2017-18 season.

However, his stint at ATK was plagued by injury. During his first season at the club, he made only three appearances after rupturing his lateral collateral ligament in his left knee. After undergoing surgery and recuperating, Eugeneson was fit and ready for the ISL 2018-19 season, but ended up making only five appearances for the Kolkata club.

A late bloomer in football, Eugeneson’s return to his former healthy happy hunting grounds adds depth to a stacked Bengaluru midfield and provides the midfielder the opportunity to bow out with a flourish.
