Delhi Dynamos FC sign former Barcelona B midfielder Diawandou Diagne

Delhi Dynamos have announced the signing of former Barcelona B midfielder and Senegalese international Diawandou Diagne from the Belgian club KAS Eupen.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder’s formative years were spent at the Aspire Academy in Qatar from where he joined Belgian club KAS Eupen in 2012 at the age of 18.

After three years at Eupen, Diagne moved to Barcelona B and made 27 appearances for the Spanish second division club. He was loaned back to KAS Eupen after a year and has since permanently signed for the Belgian club before joining Delhi Dynamos on a free transfer.

Diagne has found it difficult to get into the starting XI of Eupen over the past season. The club competes in the Jupiler Pro League, Belgium’s top flight league.

Diagne has made only five appearances over the course of the year – three of them came in the Belgian Cup and the other two were in the league competition.

The move to Delhi Dynamos will probably help the midfielder get some time on the pitch and is an opportunity to resurrect his career.

I am really looking forward to this new challenge and am very happy to be in India, with the Dynamos.
I have played in Europe amongst some of the best in the world, and I am eager to bring all my experience on the field here to India.
