Mohun Bagan signed their former goalkeeper Debjit Majumder on loan from ATK and have also secured the services of the Gokulam Kerala FC forward, VP Suhair.

DEBJIT MAJUMDER

The two-time I-League goalkeeper of the year had helped the Kolkata giants win the I-League in the 2014-15 season and is a huge favourite with the fans. However, Debjit’s big move to the Indian Super League club ATK in 2015-16 didn’t pan out as planned with the 31-year-old struggling for game time.

In the recently concluded ISL season, Debjit didn’t make a single appearance and played second fiddle to Arindam Bhattacharya.

With Mohun Bagan finishing a disappointing fifth in the 2018-19 I-League season, the return of Debjit Majumder could see both the team and the player unite with the desire to prove a point.

VP SUHAIR

Hailing from Palakkad, Kerala, Suhair started his professional career with United SC and also represented Kerala in the Santosh Trophy. His performances in the Calcutta Football League caught the eye of East Bengal and he signed for them in December, 2016.

Although he scored a memorable hat-trick on debut with East Bengal, he suffered an ankle injury and was subsequently released by the club after the end of the season.

Suhair’s next destination was to be back home in Kerala with Gokulam Kerala FC. He signed for the Malabarians in March 2018 and helped them win the Kerala Premier League 2017-18 with a tally of four goals in the tournament.

However, the 2018-19 I-League season with Gokulam Kerala FC saw goals dry up for the 26-year-old forward. He has a return of one goal from 18 appearances and Suhair will really need to step up to the plate to match Mohun Bagan’s ambitions in the league.
