Kerala Blasters have brought in Portugese manager Nelo Vingada as the new head coach for their side. The 65-year-old is a veteran in football management and is familiar with the Indian Super League having served as manager for Northeast United in the 2016-17 season where they finished fifth in the league and missed out on the play-offs.

Nelo has a wealth of experience and has managed international teams like Portugal, Jordan, Iran and more recently, Malaysia. He stepped down as head coach of Malaysia after failing to qualify for the ongoing AFC Asian Cup and lost all of his games in charge.

He replaces David James at Kerala Blasters who was sacked following a poor string of results. The Blasters find themselves eighth in the league and have won only once in the league in 12 outings.
