The Uruguayan forward Emiliano Alfaro is expected to join ATK from FC Pune City on a short-term loan deal.
Alfaro will be signed as a replacement for Kalu Uche, the ATK forward, who picked up an injury and was substituted in the game against Bengaluru FC. The Nigerian international is expected to be out for eight weeks with a grade 3 tear in his quadriceps muscles and has flown back to Barcelona for treatment.
The FC Pune City striker Iain Hume who was injured from the start of the season is reaching full fitness again and will soon be available for selection. FC Pune City will offload Alfaro and register Iain Hume as the foreign player in his stead.
It remains to be seen how effective a signing Alfaro is for ATK. The Kolkata side has struggled for goals this season and so has Emiliano Alfaro. The forward has one goal from six games and has missed two penalties for Pune City this season.
