MATCH PREVIEW

-The Indian Super League returns after the International Break with hosts Delhi Dynamos taking on ATK at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

-Delhi Dynamos have only played one game in the ISL so far. Delhi always get themselves on the scoresheet and they are on a six-match unbeaten run at home. In their opening game, a defensive lapse led them to concede towards the end to FC Pune City and draw the game – a game they should’ve got three points out of. If they can shore up their defence today, they should be able to beat ATK.

ATK have lost their opening two games and are at the bottom of the table. They haven’t scored a goal in the ISL this season and their attack seems toothless. The new arrivals Everton Santos, John Johnson and Kalu Uche have not been playing cohesively.  They will be desperate to notch a win here, but their away form is another hurdle to cross considering they were poor travellers last season.

Delhi Dynamos FC had more shots on goal, more possession, more corners and better pass accuracy. They enjoyed strong periods of dominance in the game, especially in the second half. Winning the stat counter didn’t prove too useful as ATK were more clinical with their finishing.

-The winning second goal was a great piece of counterattacking football by ATK. The new Moroccan signing Noussair El Maimouni came on in the second half. He won the ball in the DDFC half, played it to Manuel Lanzarote who in turn found Jayesh Rane with a midfield splitting pass. Jayesh cut it back to Maimouni who all this while was making an almighty run forward and coolly slotted it home.
