Kota Kinabalu: East Bengal FC hardly put a foot wrong as they began their AFC Women’s Champions League 2026-27 Preliminary Stage in style with a 4-0 win against Rajshahi Stars FC on Monday.

Anthony Andrew’s side led from start to finish in a dominant victory and they will look to build on their momentum against Guam’s Rovers FC on Thursday while Rajhashi will have the opportunity to bounce back against Sabah FA.

The Indian outfit started strongly and were 1-0 up after nine minutes with Olivia Anokye stroking home a penalty despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Rupna Chakma.

East Bengal extended their lead through Astam Oraon in the 26th minute, with worse to follow for the Bangladeshi side before half time.

Rimpa Haldar floated a cross in the 38th minute beyond Chakma, with Sulanjana Raul reacting quickest at the back post to cut back the ball for Anokye to grab her second of the evening.

Rajshahi regrouped after the break but even though they offered more resistance, they only had one Monika Chakma long range strike that Elangbam Panthoi saved which threatened to reduce the deficit.

East Bengal played the patient game with the advantage in their hands, capitalising on a defensive mistake in the 72nd minute to add to the score with Raul playing Soumya Guguloth through to slot home and put the seal on a sparkling performance for the Indian side.
