Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) announces the launch of the inaugural RFYC Coastal League in Thoothoor, Tamil Nadu, kicking off on 8th March 2025. This landmark grassroots initiative aims to nurture young footballers in one of India’s most passionate footballing regions, offering structured competition across four age categories: U7, U9, U11 and U13.
Speaking about the league, India international Michael Soosairaj said, “It is amazing to see the RFYC grassroots programme coming to our region through the RFYC Coastal League in Thoothoor, giving young kids a platform to play and grow in the game from an early age. I did not have such opportunities in our place when I was their age, and I know how important it is for their development. This will help them dream bigger and improve as footballers. Wishing all the young players the best, enjoy the game and make the most of it!”
Following the overwhelming success of the RFYC Naupang League in Mizoram, organized in partnership with the Mizoram Football Association, RFYC is now bringing its commitment to grassroots football to Tamil Nadu’s coastal belt. The league will feature 14 teams, with players competing across age groups in a structured, long-term development format.
Match Format & Competition Structure: Matches will be played simultaneously on a full 11 vs. 11 field at St. Jude’s College Ground, Thoothoor. Each team will play 13 league-stage matches, with the top-performing teams progressing to the knockout rounds. Post the league stage, teams will be grouped into two groups:
-Top 7 teams will compete for the League Cup 🏆
-Bottom 7 teams will battle for the Emerging Cup 🌟
Both groups will play additional matches, culminating in semi-finals and a final to crown the champions.
