The opening week of the Odisha Women’s League was filled with ups, downs and surprises. Odisha Police who finished fifth on the table last year have been the top side this season so far whereas, last year’s champions Rising Student’s Club seem to be struggling. Let’s see how the second week of OWL went by.
Game Day 4 (18th February)
Game 1: E.CO. RAILWAY VS SAI – STC
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: E.CO.RAILWAY 0-1 SAI – STC
After an impressive start to the tournament, E.Co Railway struggled against SAI-STC. Parvati Yadav capitalized on Railways’ defensive error giving SAI-STC a win.
Game 2: ODISHA POLICE VS RISING STUDENT’S CLUB
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: ODISHA POLICE 6-0 RISING STUDENT CLUB
The Rising Student’s Club couldn’t manage to collect points in their third game of the league. While Odisha Police dominated even though their star striker Pyari Xaxa was out due to an injury.
Odisha Police won the game with a score-line of 6-0 with Jabamani Tudu, Jasoda Munda and Satyabadi Khadia getting on the scoresheet.
Game 3: SPORTS ODISHA VS OGP CLUB
Venue: Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: SPORTS ODISHA 3-0 OGP CLUB
Sports Odisha got an easy win over the underperforming OGP Club who are still trying to get their first win of the tournament.
Captain Bannya Kabiraj, Malati Munda and Sangeeta Das were the names on the scoresheet for Sports Odisha.
Game Day 5 (20th February)
Game 1: SAI–STC VS SPORTS ODISHA
Venue: Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: SAI–STC 0-2 SPORTS ODISHA
Sports Odisha managed to get another win this week with Manisha Naik bagging two goals for which she was also awarded the player of the match.
Game 2: ODISHA POLICE VS E.CO. RAILWAY
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: ODISHA POLICE 2-1 E.CO.RAILWAY
Even though it was an action-packed game with both teams attacking, Odisha Police continued their winning streak.
The goal scorers for Odisha Police were Jabamani Tudu and Jasoda Munda and Kusum Munda scored for E.Co. Railway.
Game 3: RISING STUDENT’S CLUB VS OGP CLUB
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: RISING STUDENT CLUB 1-0 OGP CLUB
Defending champions Rising Student Club finally won their first game of this season with a goal scored by Subhadra Sahoo.
Game Day 6 (21st February)
GAME: SPORTS ODISHA VS RISING STUDENT’S CLUB
Venue: Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: Sports Odisha 1-0 Rising Student’s Club
Sports Odisha won the match with Subhadra Saha scoring the matchwinner. She was also named as the player of the match.
Game Day 7 (22nd February)
Game 1: ODISHA POLICE VS OGP CLUB
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: ODISHA POLICE 3-0 OGP CLUB
Another week of disappointment from OGP Club who are yet to win their first game. Meanwhile, there is no stopping Odisha Police as they added another win to their list and remain at the top of the table.
The goal scorers for Odisha Police were Jabamani Tudu, Munica Minz and Jasmani Samad.
Game 2: SAI-STC VS RISING STUDENT’S CLUB
Venue: Capital Ground, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: SAI – STC 1-3 Rising Student’s Club
This game had a thrilling first half, especially by the Rising Student Club who are trying their best to get back to their winning ways.
While Deepa Nayak scored for SAI-STC and there was a display of solid defending by them in the second half, Rising Students took the 3 points with a hattrick scored by captain Subhadra Sahu.
Game 3: E.CO. RAILWAY VS SPORTS ODISHA
Venue: Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar
Full-Time: E.Co. Railway 2-0 Sports Odisha
With two goals scored by skipper Supriya Routray, E.Co. Railway won this game after having a difficult week against SAI-STC and Odisha Police in their previous games.
