Six ISL clubs AFC and National licences for the 2020-21 season

Out of the 19 clubs (8 I-League and 11 ISL) that applied for the National and AFC club licences, six ISL clubs have secured the licence for the 2020-21 season. The decision on the eight I-League clubs who applied will be taken later.

The clubs have to fulfil five criterion to be granted an AFC club licence. These are segregated as Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel & Administrative, Legal and Financial criterion. Besides these, the clubs also have to accommodate “final provisions” such as compliance audits and disciplinary procedures.

The six ISL clubs granted national (AIFF) and AFC club licences are: ATK Mohun Bagan FC, Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC.

Hyderabad FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Northeast United FC, Odisha FC and SC East Bengal have not met the qualifying criteria.

These clubs can now either prefer an Appeal to the Club Licensing Appeals Body of AIFF against the decision of the Club Licensing Committee – First Instance Body’s decision within the stipulated time or can apply for an Exemption to the Club Licensing Committee – First Instance Body’s decision within the stipulated time to participate in National Club Competitions in the 2020-21 season.
