Mohammedan SC have appointed former FC Pune City and Shillong Lajong technical director José Hevia as their new head coach for the upcoming I-League season. The UEFA Pro License holder will replace Yan Law who was sacked right in the middle of the I-League Qualifiers 2020. MDSC went onto win the qualifiers and gain entry into the I-League.

Apart from coaching football teams in Spain, Hevia was technical director at FC Pune City (dissolved) and also played a developmental role at Minerva Punjab, Celtic FC Soccer School (Bhopal) and more recently was technical director at Shillong Lajong FC. The 48-year-old has worked with players across ISL, I-League and the Hero Youth Leagues.

Mohammedan SC will be competing in the 2020-21 I-League which is expected to commence in January next year. After letting go of coach Yan Law, they have roped in José who left Shillong Lajong in August 2020. Shillong Lajong won both the Shillong Premier League and the Meghalaya State League last season.
