
East Bengal FC have been on overdrive in the transfer market and have made a flurry of signings over the last month and a half.
Here’s a brief look at each of the newcomers ahead of the upcoming I-League season.
Lalthuammawia Ralte (Goalkeeper, 26)

- FC Goa goalkeeper signs a one year loan deal with the Red & Gold Brigade.
- Won the I-League and played in the AFC Champions League, AFC Cup with Bengaluru FC.
- Has tons of experience in the I-League – with Shillong Lajong and Bengaluru FC.
- From Champhai, Mizoram

Naorem Mahesh Singh (Forward, 20)

- Born in Manipur, Mahesh Singh’s formative years were spent at the Birchandra Memorial Sporting Club.
- Represented Shillong Lajong’s youth team in the Shillong Premier League.
- Four goals from 20 appearances in the 2018-19 I-League season for Shillong Lajong.

Boithang Haokip (Winger, 28)

- From Kangpokpi, Manipur, Haokip joins East Bengal FC on a three-year deal from Bengaluru FC.
- A Shillong Lajong youth product, Haokip played for the senior team at Shillong for a number of years.
- The versatile midfielder can also play as central midfielder or as a fullback.

Naorem Tondonba Singh (Midfielder, 20)

- Defensive midfielder from Tentha, Manipur, signed a four year deal with East Bengal FC.
- Played for Shillong Lajong, NEROCA FC and Klasa FC youth teams.
- 13 appearances in the recently concluded I-League 2018-19 season with NEROCA FC.

Pintu Mahata (Winger, 22)

- The left winger has signed a three year deal with East Bengal FC.
- A product of the Mohun Bagan youth academy, Pintu has trained under former Indian international Jo Paul Ancheri.
- Helped Mohun Bagan win the Calcutta Football League last season and also played in the 2018-19 I-League.

Abhishek Ambekar (Fullback, 27)

- The Mohun Bagan left back has signed a two year deal with the Red & Gold Brigade.
- From Santacruz, Mumbai, the defender has also turned up for Mumbai FC and Minerva Punjab.
- Won I-League 2017-18 with Minerva Punjab and the Calcutta Football League with Mohun Bagan.

Josep Maria Ferre Ybarz

- “Coco” joins as assistant to Head Coach Alejandro Menéndez.
- UEFA ‘A’ license holder, degree in sports science.
- Was managing Bayamón FC in Puerto Rico before making the move to East Bengal FC.
- Formerly assistant manager at Thai clubs Buriram United and Bangkok Glass.
