2nd Division League Final Round: Matchday 4

TRAU FC with a win over Lonestar Kashmir have the title within their grasp; a win for Chhinga Veng see their title aspirations live to see another day at the end of Matchday 4 of the 2nd Division League Final Round.

TRAU FC in pole position to clinch title

Sunday, May 12, 2019: Lonestar Kashmir 0-1 TRAU FC

TRAU FC picked up their fourth win in a row and are favourites to pick up the 2nd Division League title and gain promotion to the I-League next season.

The game held at the TRC Ground in Srinagar looked like it would end in a draw with both teams goalless and inching towards end of normal time. However, TRAU would break the deadlock in the 88th minute courtesy defender Ngaraipam to seal the win in the nick of time.

After today’s win, TRAU might only need a draw at home against Ozone FC on May 19 to clinch the title depending on other results; three points will ensure they walk home with the title.

Chhinga Veng keep their title aspirations alive

Wednesday, May 15, 2019: Chhinga Veng FC 1-0 Ozone FC

Chhinga Veng FC eked out a narrow a win over Ozone FC at home to keep their hopes of lifting the 2nd Division League title alive.

The goal came early in the second half (48′) from a penalty. The ‘best forward’ awardee from the Mizoram Premier League MS Dawngliana stepped up to convert and the home side defended their lead for the rest of the half to secure three points.

Chhinga Veng’s next match is against Lonestar Kashmir on Saturday May 18th at home. They have to win this game and the next and hope TRAU FC don’t win their next match against Ozone FC. That will mean the title race will go into the last match day.
