Victorino Fernandes scores another hat-trick as Sporting Clube de Goa put eight goals past Corps of Signals in Round 10 of the Goa Professional League.
Dempo SC and Salgaocar FC also registered wins, while Bardez FC and Velsao SCC played out a draw.
Bardez FC, Velsao SCC play thrilling 2-2 draw
It was a tale of two halves at Duler Stadium, as Bardez Football Club and Velsao Sports and Cultural Club played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Goa Pro League match.
While Velsao’s Bersal Veigas stole the limelight in the first half, Cho Lepcha was the hero in the second half for Bardez as both the players scored a brace each for their sides.
The first half was all about Velsao SCC and they deservingly took the lead in the 10th minute when Bersal scored the first after receiving a pass from Flan Gomes.
Velsao consolidated their lead in the 45th minute. A free kick just outside the penalty area was converted brilliantly by Bersal Viegas to give his team a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, Bardez came back stronger and almost leveled terms in the first quarter but the Velsao’s keeper, Suresh, pulled a stunning save to deny Lepcha.
However, Bardez got a lifeline in the 64th minute when Suresh fouled Cho Lepcha inside the penalty box and the referee pointed to the spot. Lepcha stepped forward and calmly dispatched the ball into the goal. 2-1 with a quarter of the game to go.
Bardez’s pressure on the Velsao goal paid off in the 78th minute. A free-kick was directed goalwards by Carl D`Souza, Velsao keeper Suresh managed to palm it away. The ball fell kindly to Cho Lepcha who placed the ball into the net much to the delight of his teammates and supporters.
The match ended 2-2 and both teams had to be content with a point. Velsao is in 8th place with 8 points, while Bardez is in 9th place with 6.

Dempo SC hit five past Panjim Footballers
Dempo Sports Club put Panjim Footballers to the sword with a 5-0 win over at Duler Stadium.
The Golden Eagles put up a team display as they had five different scorers against the young Panjim Footballers. , who struggled throughout the game to match their opponents.
Dempo dominated from the get-go. In the 12th minute, a shot by Jessel Carneiro was stopped by Massom Ali and Jaison Vaz saw his shot off the rebound go over the crossbar. Minutes later, Floyd Periera also missed the Panjim post by inches.
The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when a cross by Jaison Vaz found Joaquim Abranches. The Dempo player slotted the ball into the goal. Unfortunately, Joaquim collided with the Panjim goalie, Massom Ali, leaving the two requiring medical attention for a couple of minutes.
Jaison Vaz then made it 2-0 for Dempo in the 34th minute, providing a smart finish to a cross from the left which left the keeper without any answer.
The third goal came off a penalty in the 45th minute. A handball call in the penalty area allowed Jessel Carneiro to extend the lead to 3-0 at the break.
On resumption of the second half, Dempo did not sit back with a three-goal cushion but kept raiding their rival goal. Chatur Naik made it 4-0 at the hour mark before Desmon Pereira scored the team’s fifth in the injury time.
The win takes Dempo to 20 points from ten matches, while Panjim Footballers remain a candidate for relegation with 4 points at the 11th spot.
Salgaocar FC sees off Vasco SC
Two second-half strikes from Selwin Miranda and Deependra Murgaonkar saw Salgaocar Football Club ease past Vasco Sports Club in the Goa Professional League, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
After a scoreless first half, Salgaocar FC finally took the lead in the 68th minute through Selwin. The lead was doubled in the 86th minute. Deependra finding the back of the net after having a tough day earlier in the game.
With the win, the Green Brigade moves to 17 points after playing eight games while the Port Towners are on 10 points after playing 10 games.
Victorino scores another hat-trick as Sporting turn off Signals
Four-goals from Victorino Fernandes enabled Sporting Clube de Goa to register a thumping 8-1 win over Corps of Signals in the Goa Professional League at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
Pawan Thakur gave Corps of Signals a surprise lead in the 5th minute. A shot from distance found the net with Sporting Clube keeper Melroy Fernandes beaten all ends up.
Sporting Clube leveled terms in the 12th minute through Victorino who latched on a corner delivery to make it 1-1.
Fady Riad then made it 2-1 in the 23rd minute. A shot by Alton Vaz was blocked by Signals keeper Binu, but was unable to stop the Egyptian from tapping in the rebound.
Victorino got into the act again as he tapped in his second goal from a cross by Joston Cardoz. 3-1 at the half-hour mark.
After the break, Sporting went on a rampage. Victorino scored his hat-trick goal in the 57th minute. Riad with the assist.
In the 64th minute, Marcus Mascarenhas made it 5-1. Slotting the ball in after Mauvin Borges’s shot was stopped by the keeper.
The Flaming Oranje strengthened their goal difference with two goals in two minutes. Victorino scoring in the 78th minute and Mauvin adding another in the 79th minute.
Finally, in the 90th minute, Riad completed the rout with his second goal of the match as the Corps of Signals goal saw 8 goals fly in.
Sporting Clube moved to second place with 22 points from 10 matches, while Corps of Signals continue their struggle in the league and remain at the bottom of the table with just three points from eight matches.
